ABOUT

Nazareth house is a two story cobblestone house covered with cedar siding.  The house is on a height with a breath-taking view of the eastern slope of the Genesee Valley.    

HOUSE HISTORY

The house was once the headquarters of the National Guard 101^st Calvary Troop now located in Geneseo.  Sections of the grounds along Salt Creek where silent monks now walk were once used as a rifle range by the troop.

Nazareth House was the community’s first family guest house managed by Syl & Madeline McGinley.  As other houses became available for our families it became the residence for family brothers – employees of the Abbey who lived here.  After renovations it is a family guest house once again.   

INTERIOR

Nazareth is open to retreatants when it is not used for the monks’ family visits.  The house consists of two floors, each a separate apartment.  The first floor contains a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, living room (with pull-out sofa), four bedrooms, and a full bathroom.  One bedroom contains one bed, two other bedrooms contain two beds, and one bedroom contains three beds.  The first floor can hold as many as nine people, using the pull-out sofa.

The second floor contains a fully-equipped kitchen/living/dining area (with pull-out sofa), a full bathroom and one bedroom with four single beds. 

The house can be used for two separate groups (5 people upstairs, and 9 people downstairs) or for one group of up to 14 people using both floors.   

ACCOMMODATIONS

Basic food supplies are provided.  Retreatants at Nazareth prepare their own meals and generally arrange their own schedule.  Bed linens and towels are provided. Retreatants need to provide their own toiletries: soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.  Retreatants are free to participate in the conferences at Bethlehem and join the monastic community for liturgy.    

No Pets Please. In consideration of those coming after you suffering from allergies no pets are allowed at any of our guest houses.
